The spring 2025 “Our House: The Music of CSNY” tour, fronted by former David Crosby music director and bandmate Steve Postell, resumes Thursday, April 17, with a concert at District Music Hall in Newtown, Connecticut.
Joining the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter-guitarist-producer on dates through early May performing classics from the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young songbook are guitarist-singer Jeff Pevar (CSN; CPR; Crosby & Nash), singer-guitarist-harmonica player Chris Pierce (Neil Young’s opener on the 2023 “Coastal” tour), keyboardist-singer Teresa James (who fronts her own killer rock/R&B band, The Rhythm Tramps), bassist Ted Russell Kamp (Shooter Jennings), and one of three drummers.
Depending on the city, it’ll be either Craig Macintyre (GooGoo Dolls, Josh Groban), Clint de Ganon (Stevie Wonder, Art Garfunkel, Carole King Broadway musical “Beautiful”), or Steve Holley (Wings, Ian Hunter/Mott the Hoople, Elton John) on the skins.
Introducing the Our House band onstage “via satellite” is longtime CSNY photographer and musician friend Henry Diltz (who is planning a cross-country slideshow tour in May). During the show, concertgoers see Diltz’s iconic images of CSNY projected on a large screen onstage behind the band.
The tour opened April 2 (with Macintyre) at the historic Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara, drawing a full house (capacity 604) and an audience whose enthusiasm was as elevated as its average age.
With Postell and Pevar up front, sharing vocals, guitar interplay, and stories of their sessions and tours with Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Young, augmented by Pierce’s powerful vocals and a tight rhythm section that also provided vocal support, the Our House ensemble sounded far more credible than your basic tribute/cover band.
Musically and vocally, Postell and his bandmates are intimately familiar with the material, which was lauded in its time and still is after more than half a century. They sing and play these songs with passion and respect. Their sound is about as authentic as it’s going to get without CSN or Y.

The set opened with “Long Time Gone,” followed by “Southern Cross,” “Bluebird,” “You Don’t Have to Cry,” “Almost Cut My Hair,” “Carry On”/”Questions,” “Wooden Ships,” “Guinevere,” and “Déjà Vu” before a brief intermission.
The second half began alliteratively with “Helplessly Hoping,” then “Helpless,” “Love the One You’re With,” “4 & 20,” “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” “Southern Man,” “Teach Your Children,” “Woodstock,” and closed with “Our House.”
They encored with “Find the Cost of Freedom” and “Ohio,” which both resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom were first-generation CSNY fans experiencing déjà vu, not just musically.

Going Postell with ‘Walking Through These Blues’
Steve Postell’s Our House excursion follows the March release of “Walking Through These Blues,” his latest solo album of originals and co-writes, on Quarto Valley Records.
Here’s a clip of Postell singing a solo acoustic version of the album’s title track:
Postell Interview: ‘Our House’ & Immediate Family Previews
The noted producer and bandleader also co-founded the Immediate Family with fellow L.A. session aces Danny Kortchmar, Russ Kunkel, Lee Sklar, and Waddy Wachtel. To date they’ve released four singles, three EPs, and two albums, with a third album due later in 2025.
Among Postell’s earlier credits, he composed music for “Dying to Know,” the 2014 film documentary about Timothy Leary and Dr. Richard Alpert, aka Ram Dass.
In a Zoom interview with this writer on Sunday, April 6, a few days after the Lobero show, the two Steves talked about all the above and more, including Postell’s cinematic, storytelling approach to songwriting, and a preview of the upcoming third Immediate Family album – “all the hits” the members wrote, co-wrote, played on, and/or produced, Postell said.

Special thanks to Brent Mitala, Chip Ruggieri, and the Lobero management and staff.
